Project: Go on a Spending Fast-Congrats to all the fasters!
Asalamu Alyakum Folks!
I wanted send some more crazy excitement about depriving myself from consumption for the Month of March. One of the reasons I am doing this is because it is a goal of mine on my bucket list, and to see how much a girl can save.

Get Ready Folks!
"Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music"
-Angela Monet
Yes it is 1 in the morning and I am bursting with excitement. I have so many wonderful things to do I can barely contain myself. Inshallah my roomie and I may be taking a trip to fabric lane/row/whatever here in Philly to purchase some scrumptious fabrics for my up and coming store and more DIY posts. More info on that later....

Habits to Live by: Gratitude lists and Request for Blogger Submissions!
“‘If you are grateful, I will surely give you more and more”
(14th Surah, verse 7)
Show Gratitude! There are a kijilliion and one resources that explain why showing gratitude is important, from psychological perspectives, mental and spiritual, and of course Islamic. One of the most powerful words Muslims can say is ALhamdoolilah which can mean All Praises and Thanks to Allah. When I used to live in Egypt I noticed how most of the time, whenever I asked other folks how they were, their first answer was always ALhamdoolilah. I usually was the type beforehand, to LITERALLY tell someone how I was feeling and then maybe throw in a alhamdoolilah in there somewhere.

My Style: Asos Skater dress and animal print!
Asalamu Alaykum folks!
So about few days ago, the weather was awesome! I felt like looking half-way decent and scrambled an outfit I thought up really quickly. When I went to take pictures the camera died and I only had one good photo out of it Womp womp....so today I had another reason to get dressed and wore something really similar.

Link Loving: LFFM top 6 Self-help sites!
I am a Self-Help fanatic (at least I imagine myself to be!)
80% of what I read can be defined as self-help and love reading all those lovely motivating educational sites. They are so powerful and inspiring, in my opinion, that I could spend a good portion of my day exploring them. Self-help resources are like finding the perfect pair of jeans. Most just can't quite make it, but once you find the one that fits, you are in love!

DIY: Super Maxi Hijab!!!
Asalamu Alaykum folks!
Remember a thousand forevers ago, when I started this blog I talked about coming out with a hijab tutorial?
And I shall call it...
....joking......
Remember a thousand forevers ago, when I started this blog I talked about coming out with a hijab tutorial?
Well I kept my promise (kind of) woo hoo!
The day before yesterday after I finally put the little one to bed, I leaped out of my room and scrambled up my sewing machine. I worked like a crazy person for 2.5 hours and finally finished my first ever hijab. I now declare it is my favorite. And I shall call it...
Mini me
....joking......
Super Maxi Dusky Ruffle Awesomeness Scarf!!
They Say it better: Tawakul Karman (Noble Laurette, activist, journalist, "iron-woman")
When asked about her Hijab by Journalists and how it is not proportionate with her level of intellect and education, she replied:
“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times”
– Noble Laurette from Yemen, Tawakul Karman

Project: Go on a Spending Fast
"Money is not required to buy one necessity of the soul."
-Henry David Thoreau
Asalamu Alaykum Folks!
I felt really compelled to take a look-see at my bucket list and get reminded of all the things I have yet to experience. One "goal" in particular is to go on a Spending Fast for one month.

Book Review: Creating Your Best Life: The Ultimate Life LIst Guide
It is not God’s will merely that we should be happy, but that we should make ourselves happy.
-Immanual Kant
I ordered Creating your Best Life: The Ultimate Life List Guide a little over two years ago after I read a motivating post about setting goals. I wanted to find a good, entertaining read that would help me to write a bucket list.
When I first got it, I noticed it was a pretty big read with over 250 pages! Surprisingly, it took several weeks to finish because every chapter really made me stop and think critically about my life and who I was.
