Storage Solutions: Brooches

Everyone has an itch they need to scratch. For some, it’s shoes. For me, it’s scarves and brooches.

I think am starting to collect brooches like I collect air.

Now I need to find them a place to stay. I was researching online and found a great brooch-specific storage solution.

Option 1: (idea based off of this post from already pretty blog)

1.       Take ribbon/belt
2.       Pin/hook to wall so its hanging
3.       Attach Brooches

I tried it out and it worked relatively well. This way of display will definitely add a youthful character to your bedroom décor.  I did realize however that it wasn’t practical for me.

As a mother I have to be careful about little Sou sou (now 18 months mashallah) pulling down things off my wall. She is too tall and too smart for her age. While I could place it higher up, it takes too much time removing and hooking the individual brooches back on the ribbon. I can be indecisive when I am trying to get all fancied up so I needed a method that would allow me to throw them on and remove them quickly without all the hassle.

I found this great buy from jo-ann fabrics. I knew as soon as I saw it I had to have it. It’s a beautiful heavy plastic seafoamy colored tray. I placed a turquoise wash cloth on top to prevent damage and scratching as well as to create more resistance so they didn’t slide everywhere. Then I put all my brooches inside. Now it looks like a big scrumptious collage of flowers and bling.

My Solution:

1.       Take large container/plate/display thingy
2.       Dump brooches

 Aren't they pweety???

If you guys have any ways for storing your brooches, let me know :)

  1. I love both ideas. I have a few to several broches and some I never wear because they are not right in front of me, I would like the plate of broches but lack the space so I'm going to try to hang a length of ribbon inside my closet door and store them that way. Thanks so much for the idea. If it works out I'll post about it and link you :)
